Community Letter of Support for the Edgmont Elementary School

If you support the new school in Edgmont, please consider signing this letter.

This letter was read aloud at the January 19, 2023 meeting of the Board of Supervisors. Thank you to the 183 Edgmont residents and 228 other RTMSD residents who signed!

Dear Edgmont Township Board of Supervisors,

We want Rose Tree Media School District to build a new elementary school in Edgmont Township.

Young families are flocking to Edgmont, yet Edgmont’s kids are currently bussed upwards of 45 minutes each way to elementary schools in neighboring townships. These schools are at or over capacity and new housing developments mean District-wide enrollment will continue to grow in the coming years. Class sizes have increased, lunchrooms and playgrounds are overcrowded, and there is not enough space for full-day kindergarten.

Rose Tree Media School District wants to alleviate these issues by building a new elementary school in Edgmont Township. This is an incredible opportunity for Edgmont residents:

Our children will benefit from a state of the art school building that can accommodate current and future enrollment.
Our parents will benefit from having more convenient access to the school.
Our property owners will benefit from the higher property values that come with owning a home near a school in a good school district.
Our community will benefit from access to playgrounds and public spaces on the Middletown Road parcel, which might otherwise be turned into yet another housing development.

As the Township and its professionals consider the School District’s Land Development Application, we want you, our representatives, to know that we recognize the need for a school and we want our children, our property owners and our community to enjoy the benefits of a new school in our Township.

Please vote in favor of the new Edgmont Elementary School on Middletown Road.

January 2023 Update

The next meeting for the Edgmont Elementary School is Thursday, January 19th at 6:30PM at Penn State Brandywine. At the meeting, Rose Tree Media School District will present their application for a new public elementary school to Edgmont Township’s Board of Supervisors.

We hope our elected officials will recognize the significant benefits a public elementary school in Edgmont will bring to our children and community and we strongly urge the Supervisors to give the School District’s proposal their full consideration. Here’s how you can help:
