Improving Walkability and Access to Recreation

Nearly 77% of Edgmont residents supported the development of multi-use trails and paths in the Township in a 2012 public survey.

Public input and support are a vital part of the trail planning and development process.

Trails connecting key areas in the township such as Ridley Creek State Park, the Township Building, and trail systems in Willistown and Middletown Townships will enhance outdoor recreation opportunities and improve walkability in Edgmont Township.

“As Edgmont examines ways to enhance recreational amenities, the Township could look to the possibility of municipal trails in selected locations to connect key areas within the Township such as the State Park, Township Municipal Building, West Chester Pike Corridor, and Gradyville Village. Trails could also potentially connect to recreational amenities in neighboring townships such as the Darlington Trail system in Middletown and the Okehocking Preserve in Willistown, Chester County.”
