Connect Edgmont promotes resident, township and school district collaboration to achieve common goals in Edgmont Township.
Our Mission
We seek to enhance the sense of community and strengthen outdoor recreation opportunities in Edgmont Township by providing a forum where residents, HOAs, and local government can connect to develop and reach common goals.
Current projects include collaborating with the township and RTMSD to positively shape how the new elementary school could relate to the surrounding community, promoting new Ridley Creek State Park access points, and assisting with long term planning of an Edgmont Township trail network.
About Us
Connect Edgmont was formed in 2021 by Edgmont neighbors Steve Brook and Annie Thorne. This grassroots organization now includes over one hundred township residents who share a common interest to connect with our neighbors, parks and schools.
Steve Brook is a 38-year resident of Edgmont Township and he and his wife raised two children in the Rose Tree Media School District. Steve hopes we can collectively use Connect Edgmont to bring neighbors together and accomplish projects that strengthen and improve our community.
Annie Thorne is a 14-year resident of the township. She owns a small business in Edgmont and serves on the Board of the Okehocking Hills Civic Association. An avid runner, Annie has traveled many of the roads and trails in Edgmont Township on foot. Annie was raised in neighboring Willistown Township, graduated from Haverford College, and lives with her husband, Matt, and their two children in western Edgmont.

“Park and recreation administration was discussed in the 2000 Comprehensive Plan. At that time the Township had separate Open Space and Trails Committees. It was recommended that these bodies be combined into a ‘Recreation, Park, and Open Space Commission.’ This body was never established and the aforementioned committees were abandoned. It would be beneficial for the Township to reconvene these committees, either separately or as a joint Committee to act as advisory bodies to the Board of Supervisors.”
