The Hike
Join Connect Edgmont on Thursday, December 28 to explore Ridley Creek State Park’s lesser-known Bridle Trails. These trails are located in the area of the park that’s roughly bounded by Gradyville Road and the Ventry neighborhood.
We’ll meet near the Stables, then hike north to cross under Gradyville Road and access the bridle trails. We’ll parallel Ridley Creek, see some of the damage caused by the Halloween 2019 tornado, and visit the 19th-century Russell Cemetery, where rumor has it one avid fox hunter was buried standing up so he would still be able to hear the baying of the hounds from his resting place high atop the aptly named Hunting Hill.
This hike is approximately 3.6 miles long. The trail is in good condition but please be prepared for hills and the occasional rocky spot. Children and leashed dogs are welcome.
All participants must sign an Activity Waiver. Printed copies will be available at the start of the hike. Thank you!
