Keep an eye out this spring for a meeting announcement regarding Edgmont Township’s new Recreation, Open Space and Trails Plan, which is expected to be presented to Township stakeholders later this month.
Edgmont’s neighboring townships have already adopted their own long-term Plans which include proposed walking trails that will link to the Edgmont Township border. For example:
- A proposed trail in Middletown Township could someday link the Darlington and Cornucopia Trails with the new Sleighton Farm Park trails at Edgmont’s southwestern border.
- A proposed trail in Newtown Township could someday follow Crum Creek along Edgmont’s eastern border from Gradyville Road to Goshen Road, ultimately connecting to the Goshen Trail and Newtown Meadow Preserve beyond.
Last fall Connect Edgmont mapped the proposed trails of Middletown, Newtown and Willistown Townships and identified ways Edgmont Township could incorporate our neighboring townships’ plans into Edgmont’s own long-term plans for pedestrian connections between existing and future parks, preserves, trails and neighborhoods.
CE Co-Founders Annie Thorne and Steve Brook formally presented these ideas to Edgmont Township when Connect Edgmont was interviewed for the Township’s new Recreation, Trails and Open Space Plan in November 2022. We look forward to reviewing the draft Plan this spring!
