We’re headed back to Thornbury!

About the Hike
Thank you to everyone who stopped by Connect Edgmont’s table at Edgmont Community Day! We noticed a common theme among our visitors: while many people recognized spots like Ridley Creek State Park and Okehocking Preserve, most people had never even heard of the Luckenbach Trail.
Your feedback made choosing our next hike location easy. We’re headed back to Thornbury Township’s Luckenbach Trail next Saturday, September 17 at 9AM!
The Luckenbach Trail roughly parallels Chester Creek and Septa’s old West Chester railroad line in Thornbury Township (Delco). We’ll access the trail at the Cheyney Post Office, then walk a mile east to link up with more trails in Bonner Park. In Bonner Park we’ll visit the ruins of the Frazer Farm, a revolutionary war era farmhouse with a connection to 1777’s Battle of the Brandywine. Finally, we’ll peek over the edge of an old stone quarry before retracing our steps back to Cheyney on the Luckenbach Trail.
The hike is approximately 3.2 miles long. We’ll walk on dirt trails along the creek and in the woods. Sections of the trails in Bonner Park have hills, rocks and the occasional mountain bike jump (fallen log) to step over. Children and leashed dogs are welcome.
