Welcome to Connect Edgmont (8/27/21)

Thank you for your interest in Connect Edgmont! We are a new grassroots organization promoting resident, township and school district collaboration on topics including the elementary school, Ridley Creek State Park access and a township trail network. We are encouraged by the response we’ve received since our launch and we can’t wait to start working together.

Many of you have signed up for updates relating to the proposed public elementary school on Rt. 352. In addition to the direct benefits for children who will attend the school, Connect Edgmont also believes this school has the potential to benefit our community by increasing property values and advancing township initiatives like walkable pathways and open space. We hope to serve as a source of reliable information for residents as the school development process gets underway.

We recognize that not all members of our community are in favor of the new school and we respect that opinion. For the purposes of this organization, however, our goal is to take actions that will positively shape how the school will integrate into our community. In other words, we are choosing to focus our efforts on providing constructive input from residents to the township and school district for their consideration as school design plans are developed.

So what are the next steps?  This week we formally contacted the Township to let them know that we represent a growing group of residents interested in promoting connections between neighborhoods, parks and the new school.  We are also in communication with Rose Tree Media School District.

The school district has not yet submitted a formal plan to Edgmont Township, so the new school is not yet under formal review by the township. We will share relevant details including meeting dates as this information becomes available.

Lastly, resident input works best if all neighbors can be part of the process. Please consider sharing Connect Edgmont’s website and Facebook page with your neighbors so they also have a chance to stay in the loop.

We look forward to connecting soon,

Steve Brook and Annie Thorne
